Special Topic: International Year of Deserts and Desertification

This year 2006 falling on the tenth year of effectuation of the UNCCD, United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification in Those Countries Experiencing Serious Drought and/or Desertification, Particularly in Africa is set as IYDD, the International Year of Deserts and Desertificaiton. The 74th issue of "Africa NOW" reviews existing international steps against desertification.
