Special Topic: Disabled people's challenges in Africa

In commemoration of African Decade of Persons with Disabilities which started in 1999, a training for African disabled persons called "Mainstreaming and Empowerment for Persons with Disabilities, has been offered in Japan by JICA since 2002. CAPEDS, Committee for Assisting and Promoting Education for the Disabled in Sudan, was formed by visually disabled Sudanese in Japan last March, which represents a start of addressing issues on African disabled persons in Japan. This issue, in response to these trends, presents discussion among four disabled persons (their opinions at the round-table talk) and efforts by African organizations of disabled persons.

SHIRATORI Kurumi, an original proposer involved in editing the series presents different interesting stories associated with publication of the series. The contents of the four books are shown here.
